Dr. Dustin Costescu, MD FRCSC
Dr. Dustin Costescu is an Assistant Professor (Family Planning Specialist) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at McMaster University. He is an Obstetrician-Gynaecologist at Hamilton Health Sciences, and practices at both the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre and McMaster University Medical Centre.
Dr. Costescu received a Baccalaureate of Science from the University of Guelph, where he found a passion for medicine as a tool of social change. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from Western University (London, Ontario), and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at McMaster University. He went on to complete a Fellowship in Contraception Advice, Research, and Education from Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario).
Dr. Costescu's practice focuses on area's of Women*s Health that are often underrepresented in most OB/GYN practices, and includes contraception and family planning, transgender care (masculinizing and feminizing therapy, gender-affirming hysterectomy +- oophorectomy), sexual therapy, and colposcopy. He also practices general obstetrics and gynaecology at McMaster University Medical Centre.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Costescu performs research, predominantly in family planning, at McMaster University. He teaches students in all areas and experiences, including medical students, residents, fellows, midwifery students, and graduate students.
He has also served on the boards of directors of several reproductive health organizations. In 2013, he founded the McMaster Family Planning Fund, which supports resident research in contraception and family planning care.

Dr. Costescu and his husband are the proud parents of two school-aged children. When not at the hospital, Dr. Costescu can be found baking, gardening, and binge-watching British television shows.
